Clinical Hospital Pharmacist – Acute Care (Cardiology & Med-Surg) | 13-Week Contract
Overview
A large, reputable healthcare system in western North Carolina is seeking an experienced Clinical Hospital Pharmacist for a 13-week acute-care assignment. This role supports cardiology, medical-surgical, and general inpatient services within a fast-paced hospital environment. The position offers competitive weekly compensation and the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to high-acuity patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive clinical pharmacy services to cardiology, med-surg, and general inpatient units
- Review and verify medication orders for accuracy, safety, and evidence-based appropriateness
- Monitor pharmacotherapy plans and adjust medications based on clinical status and lab results
- Participate in multidisciplinary rounds with physicians, nurses, and care teams
- Perform medication reconciliation and support transitions-of-care initiatives
- Prepare and dispense medications in accordance with hospital and regulatory standards
- Document clinical interventions and maintain accurate pharmacy records
- Offer medication education to patients and healthcare providers
- Support antimicrobial stewardship and other clinical quality initiatives
- Respond to urgent medication-related inquiries and provide drug-information support
Qualifications
- Active, unrestricted Pharmacist license (PharmD or BS Pharmacy)
- Recent acute-care or hospital pharmacy experience required
- Experience in cardiology, med-surg, or high-acuity inpatient units preferred
- Strong knowledge of clinical guidelines and hospital workflows
- Familiarity with electronic medical record (EMR) systems
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and clinical decision-making skills
Work Environment & Schedule
This is a 13-week inpatient hospital assignment located in western North Carolina. Full-time schedule; specific shift details provided during the interview. Competitive weekly pay range of $2,950–$3,250.
