Inpatient Pharmacist – Critical Access Hospital (Contract, Oregon Region)

Overview

A community-based critical access hospital in the Oregon region is seeking an experienced Inpatient Pharmacist to support its clinical and operational pharmacy services. This role includes order verification, sterile and non-sterile medication preparation, and direct collaboration with interdisciplinary teams. The position is ideal for pharmacists with strong clinical judgment and recent acute care experience who enjoy practicing in a dynamic rural hospital environment. This is a 13-week contract with competitive weekly compensation and variable shifts based on department needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Verify, prepare, and dispense medications with accuracy and adherence to safety standards
  • Perform clinical medication reviews, including drug interaction assessments and therapeutic evaluations
  • Support patient care teams by providing evidence-based pharmacotherapy recommendations
  • Prepare sterile IV admixtures in accordance with regulatory and hospital guidelines
  • Monitor medication therapies and adjust based on labs, clinical status, and established protocols
  • Communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal pharmacy regulations
  • Document clinical interventions and operational activities in the electronic health record
  • Assist with inventory, controlled substance management, and workflow optimization
  • Contribute to departmental quality and patient safety initiatives


Qualifications

  • Active pharmacist license in the state of practice (or eligibility to obtain)
  • 1–2 years of recent inpatient or acute care hospital pharmacy experience
  • Strong clinical decision-making skills and proficiency with electronic medical record systems
  • Ability to work variable shifts based on departmental needs
  • Professional references and up-to-date resume
  • Experience with sterile product preparation preferred


Work Environment & Schedule
Thirteen-week contract in a critical access hospital serving the Oregon region. Variable shifts depending on operational needs; full scheduling details provided during the interview process.
